Using QED Express is easy – we do all the work on our end. Just enter a service request on our website and we handle the rest. This includes any instruments that are currently covered under bi-annual service as we are extending the service and calibration interval for instruments to one annual service. The process for you stays the same, all you need to do is fill in your relevant form to arrange a service.

With QED Express, we’ll charge a flat rate fee for a complete calibration and repair service. This fee is dependant on the age of your instrument. So say good-bye to a lengthy inspection, quotation and approval process.

At QED, we stand behind the quality and reliability of our QED Express service and repair program. Our commitment is to provide you with peace of mind and confidence in our products and services. Therefore, if your instrument requires further servicing within the 12-month period due to calibration, we will fix the instrument free of charge, provided that you have performed proper field calibrations following our guidelines**.
This guarantee ensures that your gas analyzer will continue to perform to the high standards you expect.
What is NEW about QED Express?
QED Express Service includes inspection and calibration, internal filters, programming and firmware updates as needed, and keypad, battery and USB cable replacement if needed. Additionally, the service will cover replacement of the lens, sensors, transducer and pump and tubing as needed. This represents around 90% of the most common repairs. Express Service also include a water trap filter kit, free standard shipping and a shipping carton if needed. Repairs that are outside the norm (replacement of sensor boards, display boards, cases, etc.) will still be quoted as an additional expense and will require customer approval before we proceed.
Service costs are determined by the age of your instrument. Newer instruments require less maintenance, so you’ll benefit from lower service fees. The newer the instrument, the less you’ll pay!

To explain where we are going, we must first discuss where we’ve been.
Under our previous service process, if your analyzer needed repair or calibration, you would contact QED, and we would issue a Return Authorization number. You would then ship the unit to us. We would receive the analyzer, inspect it and send you a quote for all necessary repairs, (this would include an inspection fee and calibration fee). Your analyzer would then be placed in our holding area while we waited for approval of the quote. Those approvals were often delayed as long as two weeks, adding a lot of time to the process. Once quote approval was received, we would complete all repairs, test the unit and ship back to you. We would then invoice you for all repair costs and return freight charges.
The QED Express program streamlines the process. You will be quoted a flat rate repair fee for our Express Service, (based on your analyzer model); at the time you contact us to request a Return Authorization. You will then issue a purchase order, (or provide payment via credit card), for that flat rate fee and send your analyzer to us. We will receive the unit, inspect it, repair it, calibrate it, test it and ship it back to you. All parts, labor and return shipping charges, (Standard shipment only), are included in the flat rate fee. So, there will be no additional charges and no delays due to quoting the repairs!
The new QED Express service has three pricing tiers that are based on the age of your instrument. Newer instruments that require fewer replacement parts and calibration labor carry the lowest fee; older instruments that typically require additional parts and labor have the higher fees. The pricing tiers are:
1-3 years in service = Tier 1
4-7 years in service = Tier 2
8+ years in service = Tier 3
QED includes free shipping for standard freight; any other premium shipping method (Next-Day-Air, etc.), will be invoiced as a separate line item. All inbound freight to the QED Dexter facility will remain the responsibility of our customers.
The QED Express service is made possible by our Dexter facility’s ISO 17025 certified laboratory, which allows for extended calibration periods for gas instruments. Advances in processes and field calibrations tailored to your specific applications enable us to offer longer service intervals, reducing your instruments downtime and service costs . Performing your own field calibrations will help your instrument adapt to changing conditions and age-related drift, ensuring factory-certified gas readings for 12 months without the need for frequent return-to-base servicing.
If a gas detection cell issue arises, the instrument will notify you and recommend service to maintain compliance. These issues can typically be solved with help from QED Technical Support. The following parts and services require a quote for additional costs:
*With QED Express, we have reduced our turnaround time to a typical 10 working days. This is 10 working days from the time that QED receives the instrument, to the time we ship it back to you. Time between shipment and arrival depends on the shipping method. Exclusions apply (the following instruments are not included in the 10 Working Day Guarantee: SEM5000 & LASEROne)
** The customer should follow the instructions outlined in the manual's field calibration section. Contact QED technical services for review of calibration data and return authorization. This guarantee is valid only if the operator follows operational and calibration instructions. It does not cover failures caused by misuse, non-compliance with instructions, or exposure to unsuitable chemicals or gases.
